The countdown to next month’s Devonport Cup begins on Friday, with the running of the $50,000 Ladbrokes Golden Mile program.

Flying mare Seydoux ($2.80) faced her toughest test against some classy gallopers in the $45,000 Open Hcp (1009m) and came through with flying colours in Devonport on Sunday.

Ten races have been set on the synthetic at Devonport on Wednesday as the Tasmanian Racing Carnival swings into gear. 

Trainer Barry Campbell will give his talented galloper Alpine Wolf the chance to win next year’s Ladbrokes Devonport Cup after a brilliant return to racing in the Open Hcp (1009m) in Devonport on Wednesday.

The 2023 Ladbrokes Devonport Cup has a familiar feel to it with the trifecta from last year’s race all going around again. Speed looks genuine with Sir Simon the likely leader from Rising Light, Reward Achiever and Maincourt a trio that could challenge for the front.
