Forest of Dean under Karis Teetan managed to get his nose in front on the line, to snatch the Grade 3 Algoa Cup at Fairview in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.

It was a day of doubles and upsets at the country racecourse of Durbanville, when the oldest runner in the race, the seven-year old Sun City, trained by Riaan van Reenen, captured his second Settlers Trophy. In doing so he also delivered a quick double for his sire Kahal, with The Mouseketeer having taken the Emerald Cup minutes earlier.

Saturday sees Cape racing moving to the country course at Durbanville for the running of the R115 000 Listed Settlers Trophy (2400m). With Kenilworth being a gentle 2800m, the 2200m oval of Durbanville is consider a tighter track where the draw can play a major role.
