Australia | FEATURE RACE GUIDE
History
The Vo Rogue Plate is a Group 3 race for three year old sprinters conducted by the Brisbane Racing Club.
The Vo Rogue Plate is run over 1400m under Set Weights conditions. It has been run over 1350m when run at Doomben until 2013. Was run at the Gold Coast in 2014/2015. It was a Listed Race from 2006 to 2008. It goes between Eagle Farm and Doomben.
The Vo Rogue Plate was first run in 2006 and was won by Sequential Charm.
The race is named after a champion Queensland WFA horse who had remarkable success, mainly in Melbourne winning multiple G1s including two famous Australian Cups.
Winning Rupert became a very hot property after his third impressive win ending in the Vo Rogue Plate but then couldn't continue on in the Magic Millions Guineas.
2012 winner Lucky Hussler would go on to win a William Reid Stakes and Toorak Handicap later in his career.
2017 winner Pierata would graduate to open class where he'd win a Missile Stakes and Sydney Stakes in the next 12 months and be placed in multiple G1s. The All Aged Stakes was his G1 success.
Alligator Blood won this race and later in the preparation took the G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington.
In 2023 it was Cifrado from Chrysaor. They had run 1st and 3rd in the BRC Sires back in May.
It is run for $300,000 in prizemoney.
Notable winners of the Vo Rogue Plate include Youthful Jack (2008), Lucky Hussler (2012), Winning Rupert (2016), Pierata (2017), Alligator Blood (2019), Apache Chase (2021) and Cifrado (2023).
