Fev Rover breaks maiden at Sandown
The Richard Fahey-trained Fev Rover (2 f ex Laurelita by High Chaparral) landed her a much deserved stakes race when taking out the Star Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Sandown on Tuesday and in the process handed Gutaifan (Dark Angel) with his second stakes winner.
The filly came into the race with good form having finished second to subsequent Rose Bowl Stakes (Listed, 6f) winner Method (Mehmas), while she also finished second to Dandalla (Dandy Man) in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at Newmarket on July 10. She put that experience to good use when beating Dubai Fountain (Teofilo) by a length with another head back to Setarhe (Footstepsinthesand) another head away in third.
Purchased by Howson & Houldsworth and owner Nick Bradley for £20,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale from the Manister House Stud, the filly is the third winner out of winning mare Laurelita (High Chaparral).
Fev Rover’s third dam is Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Nashmeel (Blushing Groom), who in turn produced Grade 1 winner Light Jig (Danehill) - the dam of Grade 1 winner Seek Again (Speightstown), Group 3 winner Treble Jig (Gone West) and Listed scorer Scottish Jig (Speightstown).
Light Jig is also the dam of Listed-winning duo Lynton (Lyphard) and Battle Dore (Sanglamore), while further back this is the family of Dunedin Guineas (Listed, 1500m) winner Another Coup (Darci Brahma).
Fev Rover joins Sardina Sunset as the stallion’s other stakes winner and he stood at Yeomanstown Stud for a fee of €6,000 in 2020.
