Exceptional powers home at Ayr
The Richard Fahey-trained Exceptional (3 f ex Expressive by Falbrav) chalked up her first win at stakes level when she landed the Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies' Stakes (Listed, 5.5f) at Ayr on Friday and in the process handed Cheveley Park Stud-based sire Dutch Art (Medicean) with his 40th stakes winner.
The three-year-old filly came into the race off the back of fourth place finish in the Flying Fillies' Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Pontefract and she was able to put her experience to good use to beat Last Empire (Pivotal) by a length, while Dandy's Beano (Dandy Man) was a further length and a quarter away in third.
Bred and raced by Cheveley Park, the filly is out of winning Falbrav (Fairy King) mare Expressive, making her a sister to Listed-winning gelding Don’t Touch.
Expressive herself is a three-quarters sister to dual Celebration Mile (Gr 2, 1m) winner Chic (Machiavellian) and a half-sister to 2007 Matron Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Echelon (Danehill), who in turn produced fellow elite level winner Integral (Dalakhani).
Earlier on the day at Ayr, Bungle Inthejungle (Exceed And Excel) sired his fifth stakes winner as the Tim Easterby-trained Winter Power (2 f ex Titian Saga by Titus Livius) landed the Harry Roseberry Stakes (Listed, 5f).
The son of Exceed And Excel (Danehill) stood at Rathasker Stud for a fee of €12,000 in 2020.
