Southern The Boss Of The Polytrack

3 minute read

In-form sprinter Southern Boss can continue his good run of form in Singapore this evening, when set to contest the ninth event.

Having placed at his last 10 starts, the son of Bletchley Park has proven the definition of consistency this time in.

Only collared late by Huka Falls two back, Southern Boss returned to the winner's stall in fine fashion, when leading throughout at this track and distance.

Improving three pounds on his previous best, Southern Boss continued his great record on the polytrack notching up his eighth win from 23 starts.

While obviously taking on tougher company this evening, he does appear well placed after Joseph See's claim.

Huka Falls remains the main danger, however from the good draw Southern Boss should be able to find the front fairly comfortably.

The Cliff Brown trained Sand Lane should also roll forward, but is unlikely to cross Southern Boss after drawing outside the latter.

The step up to 1100m is of some concern, however the way Southern Boss finished his race off last start suggests he should see it out.

The Laurie Laxon trained Huka Falls shapes as one of the main contenders, having simply been outclassed behind Spalato last start.

Beaten close to 10 lengths, the son of Align should appreciate the distinct drop back in grade for this affair.

Not seen in 35 days, Huka Falls was given a quite trial on Tuesday as a final hit-out in the lead up to this event.

Working home under his own steam, Huka Falls was not out to break any records and appears in good order.

At his best he sets a good standard, just a slight concern how much last start took out of him.

With the aid of the claim, Huka Falls gets in very well at the weights and should get a nice trail just off the speed from the middle draw.

His performance to win here two back, sees him rate well on Timeform weight adjusted ratings and must be kept safe.

Handy mare Makkura has not been seen in 385 days, however she is clearly capable when right and has trialled nicely in the lead up.

In the same trial as Huka Falls, the daughter of Falkirk worked home nicely to salute by just under two lengths.

She is unbeaten in two prior first up attempts and has never missed the money over this distance range.

Leading rider Corey Brown legs aboard for the first time and should look to roll forward from the awkward draw.

In 12 attempts on the polytrack she has placed in 11 and cannot be taken lightly.

Of the rest Golden Sand Steed appears the next in line, resuming for the Mark Walker stable.

Only seen three times last preparation, the son of Pins raced in good order, with his victory two back seeing him hold some claims.

From the inside draw he shouldn't be too far away and must be considered.

Good luck and happy punting.
