American import Kevin Lisch from the Perth Wildcats has taken out the NBL's Andrew Gaze Trophy for MVP.

Perth Wildcats star import Kevin Lisch has taken out the NBL's Andrew Gaze Trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the season.

The rugged American guard took the award after polling 105 votes during the course of the regular season to finish ahead of Cairns Taipans guard Jamar Wilson on 97.

Sydney centre Julian Khazzouh finished third with 94 votes and New Zealand's Cedric Jackson came fourth with 86.

Lisch led the NBL in scoring at 17.6 points per game and also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game, appearing in all 28 of the Wildcats matches.

The NBL's MVP award is named after Melbourne Tigers great Andrew Gaze, with the trophy being a specially commissioned sculpture of Gaze in action.

Australian Boomers swingman Brad Newley claimed the Gaze Medal for the first time in his career, for Men's International Basketball Player of the Year.

Newley was a key member of the Boomers' line-up which qualified the team for the London Olympic Games with a 3-0 sweep of the New Zealand Tall Blacks in September, 2011.

Australian Opals forward Abby Bishop took out the Women's Australian International Basketball Player of the Year Award, the Maher Medal.
