ROSEHILL December 23

Inside Grass; Good 4

14 Heats – 3 x 1030m 1 Open; 2 Maiden); 11 x 900m (2 Open; 4 2YO; 1 3YO; 4 Maiden)

Some smart interstate runners from the Hayes and Price/Kent stables added interest to this session.

The sharp sprinting filly BOLD BASTILLE from the Hayes stable showed her class to win the fastest 900m heat of the morning, running freely past the leader AMAZING EAGLE over the last 200m for a soft win by almost three lengths. It was a strong heat with the Gold Coast-bound BAUHINIA producing excellent work over the last 200m, making up good ground from the back half for third. POLYGLOT was another to take the eye in this heat.

The Hayes team won another 900m heat in slow time with STOLLI BOLLI (55.83; 35.12) where the better work came from SPRING LEE and ART VOLANT having an easy time.

The classy Price/Kent mare CHARM STONE should be followed wherever she turns up for her next start after an impressive second in her 900m heat won by OUTBACK MISS (54.47; 34.31). Looked in good form as she worked up easily and could have won the trial if asked for a serious effort. COSMONOVA also impressed with quality work over the last 200m for a strong fourth.

VOLATILE (Peter Snowden): The pick of the maiden heat winners, dominating his 900m trial (55.10; 34.51) from the start to lead easily and run through the line with plenty in reserve. He's shown talent from his very first trial as a 2YO and maybe this will be the prep where he gets his act together.

Previously noted MISS FREELOVE won the fastest of the four 2YO heats over 900m (54.36; 34.96) with the others heats taken out by INIESTA (54.46; 34.93); SANCTIFIED (54.88; 34.72) and RIVELLINO (55.06; (35.17). RIVELLINO has upside off his strong win while GALLO NERO and WRITTEN JEWEL produced impressive work to finish second in their heats.

A couple of promising trial wins by maiden and C1 performers.

IDLE FLYER (Matthew Smith): A maiden winner late last season, this Dundeel filly looks set to progress after a strong win in her 785m heat in good time (45.87; 33.01). Tracked three wide under a hold before letting down from the turn with impressive work over the last 200m.

WRITEGO (Chris Waller):  Unraced Zoustar filly is set to go to the races after running away with her 785m heat in the fastest time of the short course heats (45.61; 33.,10). Led by a good margin and had plenty in reserve cruising home by 4.5 lengths.
