Group One winning son of American Pharoah to East Stud
Group One winner Van Gogh (American Pharoah), winner of last year’s Criterium International (Gr 1, 1600m), has been retired from racing and will stand at East Stud in Japan next year.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Van Gogh has won two of his 11 career starts and he placed third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) earlier this year and second in the Autumn Stakes (Gr 3, 1m), Champions Juvenile Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) and Tyros Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) as a two-year-old last year.
Bred by David and Diane Nagle's Barronstown Stud, Van Gogh is the 12th foal out of the dual Classic winner Imagine (Sadler’s Wells), who has produced five stakes winners including Viscount Nelson (Giant's Causeway) and Kitty Matcham (Rock Of Gibraltar). Imagine meanwhile is a half-sister to multiple Group One winner and successful sire Generous(Caerleon).
Van Gogh is one of 19 stakes winners for his Coolmore Australia shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) who to date has sired 14 winners from 18 runners in Japan headed by Grade One winner Cafe Pharoah.
