La La Christine (2 f ex Super Madame by Tanino Gimlet) shed her maiden status at the first time of asking when she landed a 1400 metre contest at Kyoto on Sunday and in so doing became first-crop winner number seven for Arrowfield Stud shuttler Mikki Isle (Deep Impact).

The two-year-old surged smartly away in the final stages to beat Luce Carina (Discreet Cat) by a length and a quarter. In One Sitting (Deep Impact) was a further half a length away in third.

The filly is the second winner out of winning Tanino Gimlet (Brian’s Time) mare Super Madame, who is herself out of Omega Fortune (Fuji Kiseki).

Omega Fortune herself is a daughter of Erin Bird (Bluebird), making her a sister to Grade 1 scorer Erin Court (Durandal) and the dam of Grade 3 scorer Musee Alien (Screen Hero).

Mikki Isle’s seven winners are headed by Grade 2 scorer Meikei Yell and due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic did not return to Arrowfield Stud this season and while in Japan he resides at the Shadai Stallion Station.
