One World lands Sun Met at Kenilworth on Saturday.
In winning Saturday's Sun Met (Gr 1, 2000m) at Kenilworth, One World (4 h ex Aquilonia by Giant's Causeway) became the 23rd Grade 1 winner for his late sire Captain Al (Al Mufti). The entire defeated Rainbow Bridge (Ideal World) by a head with the Mike de Kock-trained Hamdan and Al Maktoum-owned Hawwaam (Silvano) another three and a half lengths back in third.
One World is one of five winners out of the unplaced Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat) mare Aquilonia who has also produced the Listed-placed filly County To Ten (Count Dubois). His second dam is the Group 2 placed Leonila (Caerleon) who is a sister to the French Group 1 winner Caerlina.
Captain Al died in 2017 due to complications following an operation for laminitis in a hind foot.
There were two further Grade 1 races run at Kenilworth on Sunday with Clouds Unfold (4 m What A Winter - Montelissima by Montjeu) adding a second Grade 1 victory to her record when taking out the Majorca Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m). Celtic Sea (Captain Al) was beaten a neck for second with Temple Grafin (Duke Of Marmalade) third.
What A Winter (Western Winter) was responsible for a Grade 1 double with Russet Air (4 g ex Icy Air by Jallad) having won the Cape Flying Championship (Gr 1, 5f). Bold Respect (Bold Silvano) finished second, beaten a nose, with Kasimir (Captain Al) third. That victory provided What A Winter with his second Grade 1 winner with Russet Air being one of 11 stakes winners for the Drakenstein Stud-based sire.
