Standing oin the same fee of $11,000 (incl GS, Delago Deluxe is by Northern Meteor’s sire Encosta De Lago.

He was unbeaten in his four starts as a 2YO, winning three Group races including the G1 Gold Medallion over 1200m.

His 3YO campaign saw him win the time honoured G1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint over 1200m and was second to What A Winter in the G1 Mercury Sprint winning a total of 7 races from 12 starts.

“He has let down into a magnificent looking horse and if his stock share his good looks and ability breeders will be very happy,” said Newhaven Park’s John Kelly.

“He covered 111 mares last year which will give him every opportunity to succeed.

“”The two G1 races he won in South Africa are the equivalent to Australia’s Golden Slipper and Newmarket Handicap.”

Outstanding sire prospect Northern Meteor’s stud career was cut short due to his tragic premature death last year.

He has three sons off to stud this season in Zoustar, Fighting Sun and Eurozone, highlighting the strength and commercial appeal of the Encosta De Lago sireline.

Delago Deluxe performances in South Africa made him the Champion 2YO Colt of his year.

He comes from an outstanding female family being closely related to GI winners Duporth and Excites, G2 winner Tickets and million dollar earner Staging.

He also has a close up double of the great broodmare Rolls, joining an elite class of stallions including Danehill and Northern Taste.

With his oldest progeny just two year-olds Duporth has made an encouraging start to his stud career and is running second on the leading Australian First Season Sires List by earnings.
