Group One winner Peggy Jean will be a star attraction at June's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast.
A multiple black type winner as a juvenile, Peggy Jean shot to prominence when she scored a comprehensive win in the G1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick.
Another successful purchase by the Ward brothers' Triple Crown Syndications company, Peggy Jean will be presented at the Gold Coast by Yarraman Park Stud following her first service last spring when she was covered by I Am Invincible.The Myboycharlie mare is from a half-sister to Group performer Prince Of Dane and hails from the family of G1 winners Lady Jakeo, Mrs Onassis, Merlene and also Golden Slipper fancy Capitalist.
Peggy Jean was a special horse for all involved with her,” said Triple Crown’s Chris Ward.“She was an exceptional early running 2YO and ended up winning in excess of $900,000 in prizemoney for her connections.
“Magic Millions is a great fit for Peggy Jean. They consistently put on a first class sale which always attracts a strong domestic and international buying bench.“We are very pleased to entrust her sale to the Magic Millions team."
Another Group 1 winning mare entered for the National broodmare Sale is Perth star Magnifisio.Magnifisio has won 12 of her 29 starts and is set to have her final career start in the LR Northam Stakes in WA on May 1.
“If she doesn’t reach her reserve, we will send her to a sire over in the east,” said managing part-owner Alan MacAlister.MacAlister has knocked back offers from Japan and the Hunter Valley for Magnifioso, a six-year-old mare by Magnus who won the G1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot in 2014.
Magnifisio (Magnus x Ifestio by Key Business) has earned over $1.35 million and is from a sister to G1 sprinter Barakey who won the Winterbottom Stakes in 2012.
