Young sire Cluster’s very first runner, the promising Gee Gees Darl, recorded a debut win in Hobart on November 17.

She was sold for $45,000 at the 2018 Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale where she was the second highest priced filly by a first season sire.

Trained by Leon, Dean and Trent Wells at Brighton, Gee Gees Darl took on five trial winners in Tasmania’s first two-year-old race of the season after finishing second in her own trial at Elwick in October.

"We thought she'd be hard to beat," Leon Wells said.

"She came ahead in leaps and bounds. She has really muscled up and pulled up very well. She is only going to improve."

The Alexandra Plate at Hobart in late December is next for Gee Gee's Darl.

Cluster, standing at Larneuk Stud in Victoria, has 50 two-year-olds in his first crop.

"We have always had a lot of confidence in Cluster and we are delighted with his winning start,” said Larneuk Stud’s Neville Murdoch.

“He has been well supported by the owner/breeder market.

"Gee Gee's Darl was a real stand-out as a yearling. She is only going to get better as she gets older as she is typical of the Fastnet Rock line."
