Siyouni filly Laurens recorded her fifth G1 win when she proved a class above her rivals in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 6.
With old adversary Alpha Centauri a notable absentee, Laurens safely held off the challenge of dual G1 winner Happily to record her seventh win in 10 starts.
Trained by Karl Burke for owner John Dance, her earlier G1 wins were recorded in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket last October, the Prix Saint-Alary at ParisLongchamp in May, G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly in June and the G1 Matron Stakes at the Curragh last month.
Purchased for 220,000 pounds as a yearling in 2016, Laurens is the last foal out of Recambe (Cape Cross), a half sister to the Hong Kong Derby winner Salford Mill (Peintre Celebre) from the Kahyasi mare Razana. The family includes the G1 Prix de l’Opera heroine Kinnaird (Dr. Devious) who produced the G2 winner Berkshire (Mount Nelson), the G2 winner and G1 placed Ivawood (Zebedee).
This is also the family of another Prix de l’Opera heroine Ridasiyna (Motivator).
