Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

(11) MR.STORM was 4th on debut before running 2nd at start number two over 1300M on November 23rd when racing in that position throughout. He faces the challenge of the widest gate here but third-up he can be peaking fitness wise, and he is the one to beat. (7) RAON THE AFFIRMED ran a fair 3rd on debut over this distance back in October. He was well beaten by a good winner, but he showed enough to suggest he has potential and after eleven weeks off, should be ready for another try. (9) LEGEND TANSAENG has been figuring things out in his latest few. He has the fastest final furlong average time among any of these and should be coming on strong late. (5) WONDERFUL DONGCHON and (8) MAGIC SILENCE others who can be in the mix.

(5) RAON DESPERATE was anything but desperate on debut over 1200M on December 7th, settling handy and running on for a solid 3rd place. She should have come on for that run and in this company can be on the speed and can go all the way. (7) BREEDO TROPHY come sin off two 3rd places and 4th from his latest three. He likes to settle back and finish strong, and he can run into some money again here. (6) BEOLGYO D Y was an improved 2nd at start five over this distance on December 7th, settling handy and running on. He was a long way behind a good winner but won't need to improve much on that to get in the money here. (8) ARCH DAY and (9) TROLL among other placing chances.

(6) RAON JEWELSTONE ran out a winner on debut over 1200M on December 8th when settling right back and passing the field on the straight. She comes up in class and slightly in distance, but the manner of that victory suggests there is more to come, and he is favourite to strike again here. The main danger is (8) KKUMUI HYANGGI She's yet to win in nine attempts but has no fewer than seven finishes between 2nd and 4th, including each of her latest three, all at this class. In this company she can be further forward than usual, and she should be in the money again.  (2) ECLIPSE HONOR returns to action for the first time since July but looked well when 2nd in a quick trial last week and so long as he didn't leave his race there, he can be competitive first-up. (4) SONGDANGMANGCHI and (7) MENI WIN are other placing chances.

(3) BARBELL TROFEO got sent back to trial after running a fair if wayward 5th on debut in October and improved to 2nd on his return over 1200M on December 6th, racing handy. The step up in trip can suit, he draws nicely, and in this limited company, he is the one to beat. (4) TOHAMSAN TIGER was 4th on debut over 1300M on December 15th racing handy throughout. It was a slow race, but he offered enough to suggest some potential and he should have come on for the run. (5) EAGLE POWER was a much-improved 5th last time out having run on from last at the top of the straight. That was the first time he has shown anything, but he is third up here and can be fit. (2) SEOBU DANCING and (7) CAPTAIN KOREA perhaps the best of a limited rest.

Selections (3) Barbell Trofeo (4) Tohamsan Tiger (5) Eagle Power (2) Seobu Dancing

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) BEOLGYO DESTINO was a fine winner on debut over 1200M on December 7th, settling back before being ridden up to stalk the lead and then pulling clear late. He comes up in class and in distance but neither should be a problem and he can win again. (4) HANURI got his maiden win over 1300M two starts back before running 2nd on his first try at this class on December 1st when coming from off the pace. That was unusual as he had been on pace in previous starts and from a good draw, that's what we can expect here with every chance of him going close. That pair will top the vast majority of tickets, with (2) SUMMER PARTY a distant third favourite. She enters off a smart 4th place at class and distance on December 22nd and can match or better that here. (5) HERO CHAMP and (3) MENI CHARM other minor money hopes.

Busan Race 2: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (6) MOTHER CHUKJE got her maiden win at start three over this distance on November 29th when leading all the way and scoring comfortably. She comes up in class here but carries a fair weight, draws well, and with Franco staying on, she can win again. (2) ONES HEYDAY is yet to win in thirteen attempts but has eight top four finishes, including her latest three at this class over 1400M. She draws well to get on pace and Munro returns to the mount for the first time in a while. She should be in this a long way. (7) SEVEN QUEEN finished ahead of Ones Heyday as the pair ran 3rd and 4th over 1400M on November 29th. That continued a consistent run of form, and she should be there or thereabouts again. (8) ACHIMUI HUIMANG and (9) FLY TO THE MOON are the other place chances.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Fillies and mares only. (9) CHOWON DOLPUNG got her maiden win at start four over this distance on December 1st leading all the way for a facile score. She comes up in class, but the manner of that victory suggests that there is more to come, and she can go back-to-back. (2) MISS CONCORD hot her maiden win three starts back at 1200M and enters having run 2nd and 4th in two tries at this class. She can run well on pace or from behind and drawing well here, she can be a threat for a stable that finished 2024 in good form. (3) GREEN CONCORD rounds out the top line of favourites. She is yet to finish in the top two in ten tries, but she has seven finishes between 3rd and 5th and well-drawn and under a light weight should be in the finish again. (5) TOUCH CHARM and (6) SHINE BOLT others in the hunt.

Busan Race 3: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

After a 3rd and two 2nd places at class 6 level, (9) SHASHA stepped up to this class on December 6th and promptly secured her maiden win over 1300M racing close to the pace throughout and taking a narrow victory on the line. She comes up 2.5kg in the weights, but Munro stays on and she can win again. (4) YULIM SESANG got his maiden win two starts back at this distance before running 3rd behind Shasha in that December 6th race when he led until the closing stages. He too comes up in weight, but drawn well and back at 1200M, will have plenty of supporters to overturn that form. It's hard to go past those quinella-wise so we are assessing the rest as place chances. (12) DAEHOMA enters off a very close runner-up finish at class and distance on December 13th and making his fiftieth start (he has won precisely once) looks the best chance to sneak into the top three. (10) TRIPLE AXEL and (6) SINHAE MANGCHI other possibles.

Seoul Race 6: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

Tricky race. He's still a maiden and he is up in class after ten winless efforts, but we'll take a chance on (10) BLACK SIDAE. His latest three have all been over this trip and have yielded two 3rd and a 2nd, by far his best results so far. He comes down in the weights and while he needs to navigate his way to the front in that short run to the first corner, if he can do that, he can win. (6) CHOEGANG HYEONMA needs his latest forgiven when he was very slow away and never caught up. Instead, we can go on his previous one when 2nd at this class and distance and he can be right in this. (8) CHEONGRYANGSAN beat a couple of today's rivals when 4th at class and distance on December 7th. He is yet to win in thirteen attempts, but this is the kind of race he can pick up some prize money in. (1) PROCEED and the up in class (5) DAZZLE RUSH are others to consider.

After being disqualified from the Listed Gimhae Mayor's Trophy for juveniles in October, (2) OASIS BLUE returned to action and ran 3rd at this class and distance on December 12th, beating a few of today's rivals in the process. He holds a win at 1800M and drawn well and under a light weight, he can kick off a potential Triple Crown campaign with a win here. (4) SKY SHOT beat three of thee on her way to a close 2nd place at this class and distance on December 8th. He stays under the same light weight and can be running on strong at the business end again. (5) BLACK FALCON was sent off as favourite for that December 8th race, ultimately coming home 3rd. His sole win did come at this distance and Franco getting back on makes him worth another chance. The up in class (1) UNJU CHALLENGE, along with (10) BLAZING MAN are others to consider.

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

Fillies and mares only here. (7) BLUSHING ROSE got her maiden win at start number two in an all-filly maiden at 1200M in September before running 2nd on her first try at this class on October 20th. She hasn't raced since then so she comes in fresh following eleven weeks out and she looks the one to beat. (10) SMART BYEOL beat three of these on her way to winning a similar race to this at class and distance on December 8th. She has the steadier of an additional 3.5kg to carry today but can be dangerous again. (1) GWANAKSAN O TWO has raced just three times, most recently in the Listed Gwacheon Mayor's Trophy for juveniles in November. She hinted at ability in her first couple, positing good times over the 1200M and from the inside gate, the step up in trip can suit. (9) ARGO GONGJU and (4) AWESOME BRAIN other place chances.

(3) BLACK VOLT overcame gate ten to sit midfield and go on to win at this class and distance on December 8th. He has the challenge of an additional 2.5kg today but that's balanced somewhat by a much better draw, and he can go back-to-back. (11) YEONGGWANGUITOUCH has plenty of experience at this level and comes in following 4th place at class and distance on December 20th. He was a winner at this level over 1400M as recently as October and while he too has his fair share of weight, he can be a danger. (8) MAX THE DRAGON enters off a 2nd place at big odds over this class and distance on December 6th when settling right back before making up a lot of ground to touch the front in the home straight before being headed again. He warrants more respect here. (9) JILJU YEOLJEONG and (7) HEUIMANG GARAM other contenders in a competitive race.

Since getting his maiden win at start number two, (4) WONDERFUL LORD has registered two 2nd places and two 3rd places, the latter pair at this class and distance, most recently on November 17th. In this company and having drawn well, he can be expected to be on the pace, and he will be a warm favourite to win. (11) EXCELLENT QUEEN enters having run 2nd in both her latest two efforts, both at this class and distance. Her running style means the widest gate shouldn't cause too many complications, and she shapes as the main danger. The rest need an uptick in form (7) SEONGSIL DAERO returned from seven months out on December 21st and led before finishing 5th at class and distance. She should strip fitter for that outing and can be closer here. (1) ULTRA HIT and (5) RAON CITY GIRL are other chances.

Having twice placed in Triple Tiara races, (1) GLOBAL TAEYANG ended her three-year-old campaign with a string of runs in Queens' Tour races at Group and Listed levels, yielding a 3rd, a 4th and a 6th at distances between 1400M and 2000M. She returns to more amenable company here and while this is perhaps a keep busy race before the Queens' Tour starts up again for this year, she carries a light weight, draws well and at a distance she has won at, she should win again. (5) GEUMA HUGE HIT returned from a couple of months out on December 8th to run 3rd at this class over 2000N with a few of today's rivals behind her. She carries the same light weight again and can go close. (4) MR.KEYMAN won three races in a row between August and October and followed it up with a 3rd place which brings him up to class 2. He us down a full 5kg in the weights, and he already has the fastest time among these for the mile. Those are the form horses with the rest all needing to raise their game from recent efforts. (3) EUNSEONG WINNER and (2) GRAPHENE RAP WORLD are the most likely.

(8) DAESEONG STAR is a winner of two from five, most recently at class 5 level over 1400M two starts back. He ran a fair 4th on his first try at this class on November 30th when dealing with a wide draw at the tricky 1600M start. This can suit better, and he can win. Plenty enter in good form. (1) SAINT LUCCA and (9) POWER ETCHED came home 1st and 2nd respectively when they raced one another at this class and distance on December 8th. That continued a positive run of form for both and while the pair of them are up in weight, there is a 2,5kg swing in favour Power Etched, although Sant Lucca gets the better draw. Both can be dangers. (5) MATTERHORN K and (4) ACRO MARINE the other main chances.

It's about time that (1) GEOLJAK ONE returned to winning ways. A Listed winner as a juvenile she didn't win at all in her three-year-old season but came back into form at the end of the year, closing it out with a 2nd place at this class and distance on December 8th when she almost led the entire way around. She remains under a light weight and from a good draw she can get a soft lead again and this time go all the way. (9) BEST THOR has won his latest two at 1700M to rapidly come up two classes. He made all both times and can certainly measure up in this company. Kim Yong-geun rode both Geoljak One and Best Thor last time and stays on Best Thor. (8) TAEPYEONG FIGHTER was a front running 4th over a mile on his first try at this class on December 15th. Another front runner, he tackles 1800M for the first time and can be in this a long way. (11) KING HONOR was a class and distance winner two starts back and along with (2) RAON THE QUALITY is another chance.

He looked very well in a trial just before Christmas and while as an import, he doesn't qualify for this year's Classics, he can begin a potentially big year with a win here. (10) NICE TAEYANG comes up in class following a win and a 3rd place in his latest two, both at 1400M. He comes down a full 6kg in the weights and while the widest gate from the mile start isn't easy, he has Moon Se-young to pilot. (2) ZIGGURAT comes back in trip following a strong 2nd place at this class over 2000M at the end of November and should be firmly in the mix.
