SINGAPORE: Don Baertschiger Hands Over To His Son

3 minute read

The Singapore Turf Club will be allocating stables to Shane Baertschiger from February 27 as he steps up to replace his father in the Kranji training ranks.

The 39-year-old Australian is taking over from his father Don Baertschiger, 61, who has decided to retire after training in Singapore for 19 years.

Shane began his career as stable supervisor to his father at Bukit Timah in 1996 before being granted his assistant trainer licence in 1999, just before the move to Kranji.

He has held that position for the last 12 years, playing a key role in many of the stable's big race successes such as the G1 Lion City Cup in 2008 with Capablanca.
