Caledonian Spring has joined the recent exodus of stakes horses who have been sold to race in Hong Kong.
The juvenile, a luckless fourth in the Acomb Stakes but victorious in a Listed race at Haydock earlier this month, was due to run in Thursday's Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket but has already left trainer Paul D'Arcy's yard.
"We've been offered a pretty good price for him. I didn't want to sell him, but I had to advise his owner to sell because we couldn't win that much in prize-money in this country," said D'Arcy.
"I would have loved to have taken his career further, but I have to give my owners the best advice I can.
"He left the yard half an hour after the money arrived."
Caledonian Spring will join the likes of Frederick Engels, Domination and Roman Soldier as recent young UK winners now continuing their racing education in the Far East.
