Sam King tipped winners at Kempton and Newcastle yesterday and is back with a couple of selections for Thursday’s action…
A continued cold snap across Britain and Ireland has left no National Hunt racing on Thursday, but Lingfield and Chelmsford both ensure there is enough action to get stuck into.
Lingfield is the port of call for the first selection and Paradoxical could have what it takes to get back to winning ways in the BetUK: It's Where The UK Bets Handicap (12.24).
The Jennie Candlish yard has been enjoying an excellent winter, and with six winners from 26 runners over the last fourteen days, their current stable form is unquestionable.
The four-year-old gelding has continued to thrive since his breakthrough success at Wolverhampton in December, scoring over this course and distance later in the month before finishing a creditable fourth under a penalty at Southwell six days ago.
Talented 7lb apprentice Warren Fentiman takes over from regular rider George Wood to negate the penalty he carries and there's every reason to believe that Southwell wasn't up his street, with the greater emphasis on stamina perhaps not to his liking.
Returning to the mile and a half at Lingfield looks like a major plus and he's selected to regain the winning thread.
WIN – Paradoxical
Odds – 11/4
Auguste Lumiere remains very much unexposed and is taken to get off the mark in the 6 horses Challenge At bet365 Handicap at Chelmsford (8.30) tonight.
The gelded son of Dawn Approach hinted at ability when trained by Jim Bolger in Ireland, but he took his form to a new level when denied a neck on his stable debut over course and distance in December.
That neck defeat came in Class 4 company and it's easy to argue that he should have won that day, given he had plenty of ground to make up and hung-left handed inside the final furlong.
A 2lb nudge up the weights for that effort looks manageable and with further improvement possible, he's selected to go one better here second time out for Clare Hobson.
WIN - Auguste Lumiere
Odds – 13/8
