Trainer Andre Fabre has revealed that Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Ultra will be prepared for the Investec Derby at Epsom.
The colt will not run in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket but will have a prep race prior to trying to emulate Pour Moi by landing Britain's premier Classic.
"Ultra will not take up his entry in the 2,000 Guineas - he will have a prep race before running in the Derby," Fabre said on Thursday.
Fabre first won the Epsom classic in 2011, when Pour Moi famously swept from last to first under 19-year-old rider Mikael Barzalona, and Ultra is a top price of 20-1 joint fourth favourite to provide his trainer with a second Derby triumph.
Ultra won all three starts as a juvenile, the highlight coming when winning under Barzalona on Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe day at Longchamp, and he had been as short as 20-1 for the 2,000 Guineas.
Classic prospects
Fabre, who has won three Newmarket Classics with Zafonic, Pennekamp and Miss France, revealed that he might still be represented in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas with Pleasemetoo, whose best effort in a light two-year-old campaign saw her finished placed in a Group 3.
"Pleasemetoo has been entered in the Prix Imprudence and is a possible runner in the 1,000 Guineas," added Fabre.
The Prix Imprudence is often used as a Guineas prep by French trainers and Miss France started her campaign in the race prior to winning the 1,000 Guineas in 2014.
