Dino Velvet in line for Finale test at Chepstow

3 minute read

Alan King is to pitch Dino Velvet into top-level company for the first time in the Coral.co.uk Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow.

The three-year-old will attempt to make it two wins from three outings over jumps in the Grade One contest on December 27.

Having fallen when still in with every chance on his debut over hurdles in a Grade Two at Cheltenham last month, the McNeill Family-owned gelding took full advantage of a drop in class to open his account at Sandown at the start of December.

King said: "The plan with Dino Velvet is to go to Chepstow. I think the race will suit him as he stays very well and handled soft ground. He is the logical one to take there.

"He will be much sharper with his jumping. He was a little bit cautious at Sandown as he probably still remembered that fall at Cheltenham."

The Barbury Castle handler won successive renewals of the Finale Juvenile Hurdle with Franchoek and Walkon in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
