William Haggas has suggested his highly exciting colt Economics has three real options for his reappearance outing.

Connections opted to bypass the Epsom Derby following the colts scintillating display in the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York earlier in the season and William Haggas' charge has yet to be seen on a racecourse since.

A key piece of work this weekend will help guide the Newmarket-based handler as to whether Economics will be ready to make his return in the ten-furlong Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes on the Knavesmire next Saturday.

"Nothing's changed yet. He's on schedule, in work and we're very happy with him. I'm not sure we're going to make York next Saturday, we could do with another week, so Deauville is coming now," explained Haggas on Nick Luck's Daily Podcast.

Should Economics not be ready to take on his intended York assignment next weekend, Haggas has earmarked either the Group 2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville or the Group 1 Juddmonte International as possible alternatives, with the latter option potentially setting up a mouthwatering clash with the Epsom Derby hero City Of Troy.

"If we don't make it next Saturday at York, and he'll work at the weekend, then we'll either go to Deauville or the Juddmonte but we haven't made that decision, and I haven't really discussed it in full with Sheikh Isa yet and would like the privilege of doing that before we say anything.

"The options are the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano in Deauville, a mile-and-a-quarter Group Two with no penalty or the Juddmonte, a Group One, obviously with no penalty. I don't think he needs to go to the Rose Of Lancaster at Haydock with a five- or three-pound penalty. I don't think that's necessary but it's possible.

"Everything is possible but as I've said all along the only important thing is getting the horse to his best and then we can run him wherever."

Economics is a 5/1 chance for the Group 1 ten-furlong prize on the opening day of York's Ebor Festival in August with Paddy Power. The same firm makes City Of Troy their even-money favourite.
