175th Prix de Diane at Chantilly

3 minute read

14 fillies will line up for the G1 Prix de Diane or French Oaks on Sunday.

It's over 2100m and will be run on good to soft ground.  The UK markets as usual are leaning towards their runners Tamfana and Dance Sequence.  Tamfama is on 11/4 and Dance Sequence 5/1 in what is really a very open race.

Tamfama is trained in the UK by Frenchman David Menuisier and he has booked Oisin Murphy for the ride, replacing Jamie Spencer who was on her when she had an unlucky run in the 1000 Guineas.  She is by Soldier Hollow.  Godolphin's Dance Sequence is the Appleby-Buick runner who is by Dubawi and ran second in the Epsom Oaks and comes here on a quote of 4/1.

However there is likely to be strong opposition from the home team and the one we like in particular is Aventure, trained by C. Ferland and will be ridden by Guyon.  She is by Sea the stars and recently won the Prix Royaumont over a longer trip on heavy going.  She's come out of that race well and her four starts to date have resulted in two wins and two seconds.  She's on 13/2 as is the Aga Khan's Candala, a Frankel filly trained by Francis Graffard with Chris Hayes booked for the ride.

Gala Real is owned by Real Madrid Maestro Carlo Ancelotti and the daughter of Wooton Bassett is trained at Chantilly by A&G Botti and Soumillon will ride.  She's had three wins in her four starts and could be great value at 7/1.

There will be some showers around and temperature of 20 max.
