Sir Michael Stoute retires

The legendary trainer saddled his last runner at Doncaster on Thursday.

Unfortunately it didn't win but many remembered that his Desert Crown won his first start on this track before going on to win the Derby.

The genial Bajan has had some legendary winners and has always given his runners the best possible chance but placing them strategically.  He's been particularly good at bringing along younger horse and patiently guiding them through the grades.

His other great love has been cricket – he is a Bajan after all – so he may have some more time to watch his beloved game in the future.

On a personal note we had Caribbean connections in common and he was always happy to help out with information about his horses – after he had found out what the cricket score was!
