Todd Smart's galloper Loose Love is a different beast when operating on rain affected surfaces having won three from three on heavy-going.

"If he see's a soft or heavy track he's a much superior animal and will be a great chance in what is a strong race." Smart said.

"We'll look to be positive having drawn (barrier) 8 of 8." Smart said. "He was unlucky last start where he again drew the widest."

A son of Turn me Loose (NZ), Loose Love was brilliant first up over an unsuitable trip at Wagga before having little luck in running when seventh of 11 here last start.

"We can forgive that last start when he jumped from the car park, there's not much speed in this so hopefully we can get to the front before he steps out to the mile next start."

Loose Love is a four-time winner having earned connections over $120,000. He will have his work cut out for him in another quality edition of the TAB Tony Campbell Memorial Cup, an Open Handicap over 1400m, with last start winners Miss Ostend, Trooper Knuckle & Offspring all engaged.

Earlier in the day, another Open Handicap, this time over 1000m will see seven sprinters contest the Sky Racing Race Callers Cup.

Keith Dryden will hope to continue his sublime form when Fangela steps out, looking to go one better than last start where he was second behind talented mare Miss Ostend.

A Laurel Oak Bloodstock runner, Fangela has three seconds from four goes this preparation and looks primed to break through for a deserving victory.

The Canberra Racing Club will host both resident race caller Anthony Manton as well as Darren Flindell on a day that commemorates legendary caller Tony Campbell.
