In partnership with MyRacehorse, Newcastle Racecourse is providing Novocastrians with the opportunity to take an even greater part of the race day action by becoming owners in Newcastle’s own racehorse, Newy.
Locally trained by 18-time Group 1 winning trainer Kris Lees, Newy is a 2-year-old colt born out of Knit 'N' Purl and by the stallion Flying Artie who has also sired multiple stakes winner Artorius and is a half-brother to stable star Brudenell.
Novocastrians can get on board and take up the opportunity to own a piece of Newy for just $89 via the MyRacehorse app and website.
Newcastle Racecourse CEO, Duane Dowell, is excited about the additional benefits Newy will provide to both owners and racegoers on a race day.
"Those who choose to buy a piece of Newy will not only receive a portion of the prize money in their MyRacechorse wallet, they will also go into a ballot to receive race day tickets and the opportunity to get right in the thick of the action in the mounting yard on a race day," said Mr. Dowell.
"There will be additional owner's events, training reports and Newy video updates with exclusive insights and content from Kris Lee's Racing"
"For racegoers and owners alike, there will be an additional buzz about Newcastle Racecourse when Newy races as we all experience the excitement of watching him race on his home track - imagine the crowd chanting Newy's name as he crosses the finish line."
"For anyone that has considered owning a share in a racehorse, this is a great entry level option at very low cost."
Newy will likely trial at Newcastle Racecourse in January 2025. Those interested in owning their very own a piece of Newy can visit the MyRacehorse website here.
