  • What an amazing start to the weekend when Derby favourite Shamoline Warrior was scratched on race morn then both Efficient and Kirklees came out of the Cup at the same time.
  • On a day of drama, Monaco Consul made it back to back G1s with his win in the VRC Derby for Corey Brown and Mike Moroney.
  • Peter Moody's mare Typhoon Tracy was in a league of her own thrashing the other mares in the Myer Classic.
  • Earlier in the day there was a very tight finish in the Coolmore Stud Stks as Headway nosed out her rivals.
  • The Mackinnon Stks was taken out by Perth's Scenic Shot who backed up well out of the Cox Plate.
  • Then the controversy started as Danny O'Brien's Vigor missed a place in the Melbourne Cup being No 25 on the Order of Entry.
  • Following on from that we had the situation where David Hayes' Changingoftheguard was scratched on race morning which caused all sorts of consternation.
  • Later that day we had a Shocking turn of events as the Mark Kavanagh horse won the Melbourne Cup.
  • On Thursday we saw Bart and Faint Perfume win the VRC Oaks.
  • Tickets has a G1 win in him if the Coolmore is anything to go by<br>Photo by Racing and Sports

MYSTERY OF THE WEEK - Why did Danny O'Brien roll the dice and miss out with Vigor. Some may say that if it was good enough for other trainers who knew they need to run in various lead up races during the spring like Herbert Powers, JRA Cups, Geelong Cups or say a Metropolitan Hcp where penalties can ensue or even the exempt races like the Mackinnon and Lexus, then those who avoid them run a big risk.

ONE TO FOLLOW - TICKETS: That may be the end of his Spring but had he have drawn better or got out sooner in the Coolmore, we reckon he wins. His last furlong was sensational. He might be a perfect sort of Stradbroke horse as a 3yo in June.
