NEW SOUTH WALES

SR 1: Some good trial form to work with. Expect Damien Oliver's mount (6) VELROSSO to be strongly fancied off two excellent Rosehill trials, winning with some style on 3 June before he was ridden off speed for strong third in his 900m heat on 14 June. Father and son Clarry and Marc Conners line up two smart Warwick Farm trial winners in (11) APPROVE and (2) BORN READY. Approve improved sharply on first trial to win in faster time than Born Ready on June 10 and looks to have talent.

SR 4-8 CLAM CHOWDER (Guy Walter): They showed their hand when she was heavily backed pre-post to win first-up on 11 June before her scratching. Her trial third at Warwick Farm on 20 May caught their eye and she has done plenty of work to be ready for this.

SR 5-9 SAILOR SAM (Kris Lees): The dual acceptor is expected to improve second up as she went back to the Gosford trials on 27 May where she impressed with a strong third over 900m.

SR 6: It's hard to question the methods of Sydney's new champion trainer but Chris Waller obviously sees it beneficial to trial his staying types during their preparations as he has done here with three of his five acceptors. None of the three – (3) CONTRACT CATERER (saddle slipped last start), (4) THE VERMINATOR and (9) MIKIYAMA (scratched midweek) were asked to do more than get above an exercise gallop but it obviously has kept them ticking over for this.

VICTORIA

MR 6-1 ALLANTHUS (Brian Jenkins): Won a trial over the sticks at Ballarat, and so while this sort of race is likely too short, watch for the free going type later on. Remember he did place in a Ballarat Cup and won a Bairnsdale Cup just last prep.

QUEENSLAND

BR 2-18 BON MARCHE (Tony Crane): Ex Robert Smerdon horse who has been close up in two Doomben trials and goes well fresh. This is not a strong race but will need luck to gain a start.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 5-1 ADDICTION TO ROCK (Mark Minervini): Handy galloper who always tends to run well fresh. Kicked off last campaign after one trial with a third in town before going on to be stakes placed later in the campaign. Has had a trial, finishing a close-up second at Murray Bridge, and is expected to be charging late this time.

SA TRIALLERS RACING INTERSTATE:

MR 1-2 ANYTHINGTHATMOVES (Stuart Gower): Scored in a Murray Bridge on 17 June. It was only a small field that day his form was decent enough in Listed races in Adelaide earlier in the year.

MR 1-14 TICKING (John Thompson): Only ran second in a three horse trial at Morphettville but has excellent breeding being by Golden Slipper winner Flying Spur out of a lovely mare Tick By.
