Hot Snitzel is back from a good spell
NEW SOUTH WALES
SR 1-1 NOCTURNELLE (Chris Waller): Good Warwick Farm trial win over 800m on 4 October 4 has kept this one up to the mark since her win at that course on September 18.
SR 2: A big batch of trial winners make their debuts. (7) KNOYDART was one of the better winners at the Canterbury trials on 19 September and looks a readymade early runner. (8) MANDALONG COURT put a quicker time on the board in a three horse heat over 800m at Warwick Farm on 4 October but other heat winners (11) ARRASENE and (13) ELLA MAGIC are nice fillies with plenty of scope for improvement. (3) AMORINO ran slow time winning his 900m heat in the heavy at Rosehill on 29 September beating (6) IVANHOE.
SR 3-8 MERCHANDISE (Chris Waller): Watch on this import after he trialled well when second over 1200m at Randwick last Friday.
SR 4: Plenty of interest in the trials of the resuming pair (1) HOT SNITZEL and (2) UATE. Hot Snitzel is ready to perform, looking sharp winning a 900m heat in the heavy at Rosehill on 29 September when he beat race rival (4) MAHISARA, who was equally good with his close second. Uate has had two trials for a Newcastle placing before showing better fitness to win a Wyong trial over 1000m on 4 October when given a solid test and ridden out. The only filly in the field (9) COMBAT KITTY won a 1000m trial at Hawkesbury on Monday since her last start second at Warwick Farm.
SR 5: Some good trials among the horses resuming from spells. (7) MYALLA GOLD performed strongly when held down for a soft second to the good mare Hidden Wonder in a 1000m Wyong trial on 4 October while (4) HARDBREAK HOTEL was winning an 800m trial from the smart sprinter Title at Warwick Farm on the same day. (14) RIVA DE LAGO was in good form beating Divorces and (9) TIGRESS LILY in a Rosehill heat over 1030m on 29 September.
SR 7: Newcastle mare (3) HIDDEN WONDER looked open to plenty of improvement in condition but was still strong enough to win a 1000m heat at Wyong on 4 October. (7) CABERNET has been given plenty of strong work and sprinted to the line keenly to win her 1050m trial at Randwick on 20 September. Sense she has been well prepared for a first-up showing. (14) SHE MUST BE OBEYED has potential and again showed natural talent to winner Rosehill trial over 900m on 29 September while (12) BALMONT comes to town first-up off an easy Canberra trial win on 30 September.
SR 8: Don't place too much on (4) TITLE second in a Warwick Farm trial over 800m on 4 October as he wasn't pressed to win the heat and had plenty in reserve. (9) RAREFIED won his heat on the same day in slower time but it indicated he has done well preparing for his return after being sidelined for 18 months.
VICTORIA
MR 6-6 LAUNAY (Peter Snowden): Had a quiet third in a Cranbourne trial last week and while the race will be competitive has a great record at the 1400m, at the track and reasonable first up. He is even better second up.
MR 7-9 BASE (Robert Hickmott): Hasn't run since the Balaklava Cup but had one of those regular trials that the stable have been noted for. He is a very nice horse and one to watch.
QUEENSLAND
BR 8-7 GIRL HUSSLER (Toby Edmonds): She didn't finish off last campaign well but she has run some very good races including winning a Listed Race here. She has trialled twice for wins with the second one at Deagon very strong.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
AR 4-7 HOT LOVER (Matthew Seyers): Half to Moment In Time, has won two trials quite well recently. Drawn trickily but expected to run a forward race against some decent 3yos.
