G3 Bill Ritchie Handicap – 1400m Randwick

Racing And Sports have identified the Bill Ritchie Hcp as the race of the weekend where the settling positions hold a big sway in the way the race may end up.

Our maps are interactive and so use the technology available to create your own speed map if you have a differing view. Much like racing everywhere, it is all a matter of opinion and that is what makes the sport great.

Click the link back to the race in our Form Guides and you can create your own Speed Maps located on the left hand side of the page.

Explanation:

Should be good speed in this 1400m race. The two who raced forward in the Tramway (Bello and Malavio) will be up there but Tagus, Choice Bro and Title are others to race near the speed. The seven furlongs at Randwick can be an on-pacers race however with the rail back in the true on a track with give in it, getting off the fence will be likely superior going and they may well race off the fence. We’ve speed mapped this race because we don’t think the favourite will get the best of runs as it did last time.

Happy to be on horses tracking up and covering ground up the middle of track and we can see Sizzling doing just that. On a day when it was so hard to make substantial leeway here a fortnight back, the 4yo was able to charge late out wide. Clearly big tracks are his go and he has no dramas with surfaces less than firm. He will get back and Tim Clark will just need to angle him to the crown of the track.

The danger could be Title after two top runs behind Rain Affair then Rebel Dane after which he trialled very nicely. He is a winner over this trip before and with a smother up, plus not having to contest the early lead, he will be strong late like he was in the Show County.

Boban looks to be very short here for a horse who has not that much form behind him and goes onto a track surface he may not be so comfortable on if it is on the worse side of dead.
