The Trial Files
The Trial Files team look to find you a few for Saturday
Racing And Sports is pleased to introduce for punters the services from The Trial Files. Their team specialise in viewing Barrier Trials from Victoria, NSW and WA and analyse them for future race performances.
The Trial Files don’t just provide recommended selections but also provide a full trial review service which delivers information for all punters to use. They aim to educate people on trial information and stimulate wagering on those horses in the process.
Please find below some of their best for the weekend based on recent trials around the country.
1. Morphettville Race 8 – 11 Cautious
TRIAL COMMENTS
CAUTIOUS was the clear pick of the trial here. She was allowed to balance up through the early stages and travelled strongly out wider on the track approaching and around the home turn. She lengthened stylishly in the straight and made up a mountain of late ground under very gentle riding. She was beaten at Sandown last start on a heavy track but looks to have come through the run in super order and will be worth following when she next steps out. Very nice work.
SUMMARY
Good speed on paper. THIAMANDI is a flying machine and she will press forward along with BUDDY BUNDY, PINK PERFECTION and PISTOLIER. There will be a solid tempo here and there is every chance that these leaders will cut at each other. CAUTIOUS is drawn ideally in barrier four and she should settle 5th / 6th in running behind a solid tempo.
KILLCARELESS had a recent trial at Randwick on 18th July: KILLCARELESS – Jumped very well from an outside gate and worked forward. Led out wide on the track. Ridden out in the straight but kicked well and went on to score a nice victory. Under more pressure than the majority of the field and was entitled to win by the margin she did. Good trial all the same.
Really keen CAUTIOUS can run a big race here. She has clearly improved from recent racing and her two runs back from a spell have been very good. When she resumed she ran scintillating late sections (34.5 last 600M, 23.30 last 400M and 12.04 last 200M) which was the best of the day. She was then forced to face the breeze out wide at her subsequent start over 1000M at the same track and was left a sitting shot for TEMPS VELOURS who came from the tail and does look an exciting horse.
CAUTIOUS was able to run down another rival from today in that race, PINK PERFECTION and she again looks to have that horse’s measure. With the gun run in transit CAUTIOUS is going to be very hard to beat and we are keen to bet up here.
KILLCARELESS does create interest here coming to Adelaide and backing up quickly from that recent Randwick trial. She is going to need luck form the gate and that might be her undoing, but provided they resign to riding her quietly then she might be able to finish off and be amongst the money. There is no doubting the talent of BUDDY BUNDY who has brilliant SA form. He has demolished his rival at his last two outings and the pole draw should enable him to kick up and race right on speed. He will likely be served up more pressure here than he has been in recent times but the heavy track is really in his favour and he will be hard to beat. THIAMANDI is again going to be in the race a long way and the form through her latest win at Caulfield is strong enough to see her very competitive in this grade of race. She also has no issues with the heavy track. She did get a reasonably easy time of it last start at Caulfield and the worry might be the extra pressure in the early stages of this event.
Keen to back CAUTIOUS each way here and will be surprised if she isn’t in the finish.
2. Caulfield Race 2 – 9 Yesterday's Songs
TRIAL COMMENTS
It would be remiss of us not to make mention of YESTERDAY'S SONGS recent trial at Flemington. He went around on July 18 and settled in the second half of the field before being given a little squeeze and absolutely exploding away from a smart galloper in ORUJO.
SUMMARY
This Mike Moroney trained gelding has only gone forward form his recent win at Sandown and he looks ideally placed up to 1400m today. He looks the horse they have to beat and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this bloke in much better races over the Spring and Autumn.
3. Belmont Race 1 – 4 Calabria Joe
SUMMARY
CALABRIA JOE just had his head up at the wrong time on debut, a stride before and after the line he was in front. Think he will appreciate a firmer track and if he doesn’t have to sit on pace and is allowed to settle midfield and hit the line, like he did in his trial, then he should go close. He will appreciate the step up to 1400m and with the claim for Lucy Warwick has 4.5kg off the favourite which could be telling late.
