Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Rosehill Race 3 - 4 Off The Rails
Going well this prep, resuming with a storming win over 1200m on the Randwick main course before having no luck over 1300m on the Kensington track on November 22 when a closing third against the leader bias after being badly held up for clear running for much of the straight.
No doubt he would have gone close with better luck last start and should relish the step up to 1500m, especially on a soft track as he boasts an excellent record on rain affected ground.
Big improver out of the Godolphin stable and happy to make him the stand out of the day at short odds after impressive wins at his last two starts when he has dictated to his rivals.
Easily accounted for subsequent winners Commanding Wit and Nisroc over 1350m at this course last time and a 2.5kg rise in weight is unlikely to stop his rise through the grades as he can handle the wet and drawn to enjoy the gun run.
Has been in super form this preparation for Wyong trainer Kim Waugh with two impressive wins at Muswellbrook and Canterbury when he has let down with classy acceleration to score with plenty in hand over subsequent winners.
Takes a step up in class but looks a worthy gamble at his early odds as he can handle all types of going and has impressed with his will to win.
