Rosehill Race 3 - 13 Isla Tristana
Top Murwillumbah trainer Matt Dunn has built a super record in these Highway events and this Sebring filly appeals has yet another impressive improver set to make a winning city debut.
Her first-up win over 1005m at Ballina on November 11 at just her third career start was first class, coming from near last with a fast closing sectional that stamped her as a filly ready to go through the classes.
Expect a negative ride early to overcome an awkward gate but watch out for her big finish.
This is a very good sprinter when he’s on song and the manner of his first-up win in the Listed Doveton Stakes (1000m) at Sandown on November 12 when he let down from midfield, running an impressive 32.25 seconds for his last 600m, suggests that he has come back in career best form.
He boasts an excellent second up record and he should adapt well to Rosehill from a soft draw, having won a classy Gold Coast sprint after a third at Randwick in his only two previous right handed starts last summer.
Looks to be going better than ever after two excellent conditioning efforts in unsuitable races since resuming.
He won this race in 2014 and should go close to a repeat as he rarely disappoints at this course and comes in nicely with 1.5kg less than the 58kg he carried last time when a closing fifth over 1900m at this course against a similar field.
