Randwick Race 7 - 2 Madison County - It is Day 1 of The Championships and Randwick will look at its best on Saturday with the Derby the classic test for the three year olds.

The Kiwis have won five of the last eleven blue ribands in Sydney and Murray Baker has had a hand in four of those victories.

With that in mind we are banking on him being able to bounce Madison County off his defeat in the Tulloch Stakes to win the Australian Derby at great odds.

This has been the form race the last two years and while he didn’t win last week, he was a little unlucky, having to come from back and wide and dipping and diving over the last furlong.

Tommy Berry has won the Derby before and having now ridden him twice, should be able to get him into a position to use his turn of foot that others in the race may not have.

At around the 12-1 quote he’s well worth a play on one of the great racing days in Sydney.
