Arugamama ready to make long-awaited return to winner’s circle on Saturday at Morphettville Parks.
Just under a year (336 days) between wins, Arugamama looks well placed to break the drought on Saturday at Morphettville Parks.
The Andrew Gluyas-trained mare has been much better suited since stepping back out to 2000m+, with the five-year-old returning to somewhere near her best last time out when beaten a lip over 2500m on the main track.
She was only a whisker off her Racing and Sports peak rating last start and has proven in the past she improves the deeper into the preparation she goes, putting a hat-trick of wins together through runs 6-8 of last campaign.
Getting 2kgs off with the slight rise in grade at start seven of the campaign, hot-hand hoop Todd Pannell reunites and is 1/1 aboard after partnering the Churchill mare to her maiden success.
I expect Pannell to take up a prominent position from the low draw, tracking second pick Sir Kingsford's (the likely leader) every move, before proving too strong for him in the lane.
Another one I'm keen on comes in the last and it's Hooked On Wealth from the W F Francis & G Kent yard.
The five-year-old is ticking along superbly this campaign despite only having the one win to show for it. The form around him is stacking up and Kayla Crowther sticking over an ideal trip reads favourably. Confident he can go very close.
