Race 1: RED DUST HOLDINGS HANDICAP (1,100m)
PRINCE RAGNAR (2) led and won easily this grade/trip and then was run over late proceedings over longer after. Keeps the 2kg claim and will be tougher to get by today. SAFE HUSTLE (4) comes out of the same race beaten 2L and was beaten 2.5L by Prince Ragnar prior. He can make the finish again. BOMBAY STYLE (1) resumes and owns a trial win. Good enough at best and keep him onside. SAUVEGARDE (5) peaks and is capable of better. The in-form Faithfull rides.
Race 2: GREAT WESTERN INSURANCE BROKERS MAIDEN (1,100m)
SUMMER MOOD (8) went down narrowly at Albany before being well-supported here when narrowly beaten. She draws much better today and can break through. FIRE THE GUARD (1) is busting to win and it was a big effort when beaten 1L last start as a $3 favourite. Jumps from a wide barrier again but enjoying better luck is capable of taking this out. DEMETRIOUS (2) resumed in stronger at Bunbury for a new barn missing by 1.8L after a slow start. He's much improved and is a chance building on that form. DIXIE PRINCESS (6) was much better beaten 1.7L in the Summer Mood race. She will push forward and should be around the mark.
Race 3: GERALDTON TOYOTA MAIDEN (1,600m)
ARTERRE (4) rates well and will appreciate the step-up to a mile. He is likely to sit closer and he gets the nod. DIVERSE (9) has been racing well enough and coming back 300m may assist. She gets her chance in this contest. BIG BONED BAZ (2) mixes the form and didn't have the best of it last time. Led and found one better three back over this distance and that form would have him in the finish. WHAITIRI (7) resumes for a new stable and owns a solid trial. Has the outside gate but is good enough at best.
Race 4: MITCHELL & BROWN RETRAVISION HANDICAP (1,400m)
SPARKLE CORNER (4) was outgraded at Belmont but bounced straight back comfortably winning a CL2 here as the favourite. Keeps improving and can go on with the job. ENTICING (3) hasn't won for a long while but he's raced well in tougher metro grade and will be better for the solid first-up placing. No surprise to see him make the finish with the extra fitness. THE RUSH (1) stepped up to a mile here last time and was disappointing when heavily supported. Won and missed a lip the two prior over this trip and they stack right up and she maps for the run of the race. MIFF MUFFERED MOOF (5) always puts in and races forward. Comes back 200m and would be some hope if things go her way.
Race 5: COURTNEY KEEFFE- ELDERS REAL ESTATE HANDICAP (1,600m)
I'M ON (3) overcame a tough run beaten 1.3L over 1400m well supported. Peaks today and will appreciate the step-up to the mile. She will give away a start but finishes hard. SNIP OF GOSSIP (5) has been racing in stronger and beings a 1.7L defeat at Bunbury over this distance. He also draws awkwardly but the in-form Faithfull goes aboard and he has the first-time blinkers applied. WUNDERKIND (7) had a long break before returning for the new yard. Third-up today and finally jumps from a low barrier. Can sit closer and is well in the mix. CRYSTAL ROSE (4) won her Maiden comfortably as a short-priced favourite and will be around the mark building on that.
Race 6: GWN HANDICAP (1,100m)
LIVE LUCKY (10) returned improved for the new yard easily winning a Maiden as expected and then the money came again and she found one much too good in a CL2. Fitter again and sits on the minimum. Has the speed to clear the awkward barrier and can bounce back. JUSTHANDY (2) turned her form around easily winning this grade. Faithfull stays aboard and she will go close holding the form. THE SLAP (9) resumes and is proven fresh. He will use the rail and is up to this if presented on song. STEVIE'S MAY (8) missed a hat-trick last time heavily bet and was slow to recover. She has been given 43 days to get over it and maps well. No surprise to see her back on track.
Race 7: EMU CREEK GARDENS & VENUE CENTRE HANDICAP (1,400m)
JURUENA GOLD (4) bounced straight back winning this grade by 3.2L over a mile. He races forward and coming back 200m shouldn't be an issue. Spiked his figures and can go on with the job. WELL PLAYED (2) finished 1L ahead of the above two back and then was outgraded in a 70. Draws wide but has gate speed and she's a chance with average luck. PRETTY DEVINE (7) will find this easier than Pinjarra. She is hard to catch but would be a hope putting her best foot forward. BE SEATED (3) is third-up and can show more. He should be around the mark.
Race 8: SUN CITY PRINT HANDICAP (1,200m)
CHOIXWAY (2) resumes in easier company for a new stable and has won 2/3 fresh. He has trialled sharply at Lark Hill and his best form is strong for this level of competition. A bold run is likely. PAT'S LAST BANG (12) trialled well at Belmont and then impressed winning on debut. Maps well and will have taken fitness and learning. The form should stack right up. ON THE MARK (1) led and deserved his win here this grade and will present at peak fitness. He may have to take a sit today from a wide barrier and that'll require a clever ride. BEAUTY IN ME (9) has been plain her last two but missed a nose the one before and that would be good enough. Worth another chance. COLLECTIVE (5) resumes in lesser company for a new stable. Her recent trial was good and she's a market watch.
