A very smart win to the WA-trained colt Rommel. He had a good trip in fourth place, was under riding nearing the 200m but kept running on strongly to grab a last stride win. He should appreciate further and looks on track for next Saturday’s Australian Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) at Flemington.

Attractive colt Galaxy Pegasus was smarty away and went straight to the lead. He travelled nicely in front and looked a strong winning chance when he kicked clear approaching the 200m. He was only overhauled right on the post for a very good second.

Convincible was back in second last place in the nine-horse field, improved between runners at the turn and ran on well to take a good third.

Fast Cash was seventh, one off the rails but was under pressure coming to the home turn. But he rallied late, finishing on well for a late-closing (1.1 lengths) fourth, putting up a promising effort while Ulmann caught the eye running on late along the rails for (1.2 lengths) fifth.
