Although the winning margin was a mere short half head, Wait For No One, off two trials wins, showed a lot of fight in the last few strides after doing all the work throughout. He drew the inside and immediately went to the front, the leading three putting a break on the rest. Jockey Stephen Baster allowed the colt to stride along freely down the side and they led into the straight. Once straightened, the pair settled down for the run home out by two lengths then Baster gave him a gentle reminder inside the 200m and they held on gamely to the line in smart time.

Spoils had the run of the race in behind the leader, pulled out to challenge at the 200m and kept up a strong run, just failing to get up in a head-bobber at the post.

Miss Wahoo was a distant fourth approaching the straight, then ran on without looking like catching the first two for a decent third.
