Thermal Current settled back in seventh place, following a solid pace. He got along the rails rounding the home turn and went through to be in a challenging position at the 200m. He took the lead at the 50m and then went on to score well, appearing to do so with something in hand. It was a smart effort and a very good ride by Damian Lane.

Shakespearean Lass went to the front, showing good pace. She was then pressured in the lead, but got away with a clear break at the 200m before fighting back for a very good second after a challenging trip.

Sunday Escape raced in fourth place, with cover, moved up (deep) at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and fought on well for third.

The favourite Faatinah was caught deep from barrier eight, racing wide (without cover) close to the pace. He was widest off all at the home turn and then tired over the final stages after a very difficult trip to finish (3.3 lengths) seventh.
