In a race where the first four horses finished less than a half-length apart, the highly consistent Ron Quinton-trained mare Daysee Doom dug deep to score a game first-up win, her eighth win from 18 starts to date.

She settled nicely outside the leader (Girl Sunday), challenged strongly at the 100m and did best to grab a head victory at the post.

Gerald Ryan-trained mare Girl Sunday was smartly away and led the field until the closing stages for second in a good effort, resuming here.

Foxplay raced in fourth place, one out and one back, moved up (under riding) on turning for home and steadily made ground in the sprint home for a close third in a sound first-up effort.

The favourite Prompt Response raced behind the leader, gained an inside run from the 200m and kept battling on for (0.4 lengths) fourth.
