The busy start to 2025 Tasmanian thoroughbred racing continues in Hobart on Friday afternoon, where an eight-race program features the Listed Ladbrokes Tasmanian Guineas.

Although he concedes the “little champ” will be awfully hard to beat, trainer John Blacker takes Indispensable to the $125,000 WFA Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Stakes (1600m) in Hobart on Friday, thinking he is a winning chance.

As he does so often, trainer Stuart Gandy landed the first two-year-old winner of the season with Zany Girl ($9.00) running down Star Fortian ($8) in the last few strides to win narrowly in Hobart on Sunday.

Sunday thoroughbred racing is in Hobart where a strong nine-race card follows a terrific night in Launceston on Wednesday. The opening race of the day is the first 2YO race of the season, while the $50,000 Winzenberg Handicap is the feature of the afternoon. The rail is +3m with a good-rated track expected.
