Criterion all but confirmed his place in the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on April 6 when taking out the $250,000 Listed Black Opal Stakes at Canberra's Thorougbred Park on Sunday.

The $150,000 winner's cheque has seen the colt rocket to third in the updated Order Of Entry for the Group 1 Golden Slipper released late yesterday.

A day earlier, Whittington solidified a likely start in the Golden Slipper when winning the $100,000 Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm.

The Star Thoroughbreds-raced gelding is now tenth in the Order Of Entry after edging out Va Pensiero who sits 21st in the ballot.

Whittington is part of a Gai Waterhouse-trained trio expected to contest the Golden Slipper which also consists of Overreach [16th] and Sweet Idea who is exempt from ballot after winning the Silver Slipper (1100m).

Racing at Warwick Farm this Saturday will be pivotal in terms of two-year-old racing with both the Sweet Embrace Stakes and the Skyline Stakes each conducted.

Those nominated for the Skyline Stakes who are prominent in the ballot order include Regimental Pride [13th], All The Talk [15th], Good Job Bro [20th] and Dothraki [27th].

Boom filly Assail resumes in the Sweet Embrace.

Assail sits equal 27th in the Order Of Entry.
