Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 29.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Warwick Farm, Sale, Ipswich, Belmont & Balaklava.
Warwick Farm: Race 1 @ 12:50pm
Sedgemoor goes fast and will lead the small field comfortably. SEDGEMOOR (1) returned from a ten-month spell as a gelding last start over 1250m at Canterbury. Stalked the leader that day and drove hard on the line to miss in a very tight photo. Looking for seven furlongs now and is ideally placed to go one better. The danger is MILUNKA (3) first-up from an 18-week break. Placed at both runs in her maiden prep, hitting the line strongly on each occasion in shorter races than this at Canterbury. Suited by this trip first up and won't be too far from them on settling in the small field. ROYAL CAPTAIN (2) made it six minor placings from nine runs when he overcame a slow start to rattle home and finish a close 3rd over this trip at Newcastle recently. Will give 100% again. TAWARET (5) next best. SELECTIONS: #1 Sedgemoor with the race fitness edge to prevail.

Balaklava: Race 5 @ 3:00pm
RISING THUNDER (4) should make short work of the wide gate and was good resuming when missing a lip off a long break. He can only be improved and is clearly the one to beat. ALWAYS THE KING (1) didn’t have much luck resuming and had also been away for a while. He has plenty up the sleeve and can make the finish again with a good ride from the claimer. MOVANDI (13) made sharp improvement placing here at her third run. She is in good hands and will win races. KEN'S THUNDER (6) ran the quinella resuming, but was 10L astern of Lady Bethany. He’s better than that and drawn low is capable of filling a slot. SELECTIONS: #4 Rising Thunder looks well-placed.
Sale: Race 6 @ 3:20pm
HEIR TO THE THRONE (2) rates well here after a strong run last time over further and freshened since. Overdue and gets chance. INTO RIO (5) rates well on best and worth including here fresh. PAKAYA PRINCE (4) is fitter and can improve sharply. SO WHITE (10) has good speed and will give a sight. SELECTIONS: Heir To The Throne hard to beat.
Belmont: Race 7 @ 8:10pm
DEVOTED STAR (13) won the Maiden on debut and then just missed resuming at Ascot in a bit stronger. Pike sticks from that and the filly should be winning using the low gate. GATES OF BABYLON (4) is fast and deserved the comfortable Ascot win. He keeps improving and rates the danger with the 2kg claim. PLAYING MARIKA (2) resumed at Ascot in stronger than this and pulled up with an issue. She’s back after 11 days and is a second-up winner with more to give. BLACK SHADOW (1) may be next best. SELECTIONS: Expecting #13 Devoted Star to have an edge. Others worth a look are #2 I’m Icey in Race 4, and #2 Rebel Yell in Race 5.
