Three-year-old son of Sky Lantern wins his first race
The Richard Hannon-trained Noonday Gun (3 c Dubawi - Sky Lantern by Red Clubs) scored at his third start when winning the Millbry Hill Novice Stakes (1m4f) at Catterick on Monday.
Bred and raced by Rockcliffe Stud, Noonday Gun scored a seven and a half length victory over four-year-old Beholden (Cacique) whilst favourite Alpin King (Free Eagle) was another three and a half lengths back in third.
Noonday Gun is out of four-time Group 1 winner Sky Lantern, who was trained by Richard Hannon to win the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 7f), 1000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m), Coronation Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) and the Sun Chariot Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) and he becomes the second winner for his dam. Her first winner is Gentile Bellini (Dubawi) who was bought for 2,000,000 by MV Magnier from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2017.
Sky Lantern is a half-sister to Group 3 winners Arctic (Shamardal) and Shanty Star (Hector Protector) and Listed winner Hinton Admiral (Spectrum) being out of winning mare Shawanni (Shareef Dancer).
Noonday Gun’s Frankel (Galileo) two-year-old half-sister, who like her brother is trained by Hannon for Rockcliffe Stud, finished second on debut to Zabeel Queen (Frankel) at Ascot last month.
