Son of Kingman to stand at Haras d'Etreham upon retirement

Persian King - who will look to add a fourth Group 1 to his CV when he lines up in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr 1, 2400m) on Saturday - will stand at Haras d’Etreham at the conclusion of his racing career. 

The Andre Fabre-trained colt has won eight of his 12 career starts to date, headlined by victories in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Gr 1, 1600m), Prix d'Ispahan (Gr 1, 1800m), while he was last seen winning the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr 1, 1600m) on September 4. 

The four-year-old is out of the winning Dylan Thomas (Danehill) mare Pretty Please, who is herself a half-sister to Prix Ganay (Gr 1, 2100m) winner Planteur (Danehill Dancer) and Pilote D’Essai (Oasis Dream), who landed the Ballarat Cup (Listed, 2000m) and Pakenham Cup (Listed, 2500m). 

Further back the colt hails from the same family as dual Group 3 winner Policy Maker (Sadler’s Wells), Group 2 winner Pushkin (Caerleon) and Group 3 winner Place Rouge (Desert King).

Persian King will join Calyx, who shuttles to Coolmore’s Jerrys Plains base, as the other son of the Juddmonte Stud-based sire Kingman to join the stallion ranks.
