Waterville bound for Waller stable after being bought in Newmarket for 410,000gns
Australian buyers bought the two most expensive lots sold during the first day of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale at Park Paddocks on Monday with the session topper being three-year-old colt Waterville (Camelot) who is bound for the Chris Waller stable after being secured for 410,000gns by Guy Mulcaster.
Sold by Coolmore as Lot 275, the colt won the Irish Cesarewich (2m1/2f) at the Curragh last month, one of two wins in seven career starts tow date having broken his maiden at Limerick back in June.
"We saw him when we saw him in June when we were at Aidan's and his form has gone on since," said Mulcaster. "I spoke to Chris this morning and he was keen to get the horse, so fingers crossed he works out for us.
"He is a well-bred horse, he has been looked after, he has not had many runs, he has got a high profile, he looks obvious for us. We have not had many by Camelot ourselves, but he has done well in Australia."
Waterville is out of Listed winner Holy Moon (Hernando), making him a half-brother to 11 winners including dual Group 1 winner Sea Of Class (Sea The Stars) as well as the Group 1 winning pair Charity Line (Manduro) and Final Score (Dylan Thomas).

Shortly afterwards Will Bourne signed for Chairman (Almanzor) on behalf of Ciaron Maher Racing. Sold by The Castlebridge Consignment as a wildcard entry, Chairman has won two of his seven career starts to date and placed second on four occasions. His BHA rating is 94.
"We were really impressed when we saw him as a physical, he is a very athletic horse and isn't carrying too much condition," said Bourne.
"What we have observed, is that the [European] horses who have worked for him are horses that are not too heavy and we don't have to work too much, obviously we have different facilities as opposed to here. I think he is a horse who should suit, he has been racing in those good handicap and I will leave it to Ciaron from here!"
He added: "We were looking for a horse who can get a bit of distance, prize-money is so good for the distance races compared to here and think he is a horse who will really suit."
The colt was one of two purchases on the day by Ciaron Maher Racing, Charterhouse (Charming Thought) the other. The four-year-old gelding cost 130,000gns.

Other Australian buyers active on day one included Badgers Bloodstock and Anthony Freedman Racing went to 160,000gns to secure fellow three-year-old colt Cadmus (Gleneagles). Blandford Bloodstock, Bennett Racing and Annabel Neasham spent 120,000gns on three-year-old gelding Fawkner Park (Zoffany) and Blandford Bloodstock and OnTrack went to 100,000gns for another three-year-old gelding in Space Tracker (Havana Gold).
DeBurgh Equine and Darby Racing meanwhile paid the same price for Fleet Commander (Galileo).
