Average, aggregate and median all show gains with Kingman colt topping at €550,000
The four day Goffs November Foal Sale concluded at Kildare Paddocks on Thursday with significant increases in the aggregate, average and median. The most expensive lot sold was a son of Juddmonte Farm's Kingman (Invincible Spirit) who was bought by Stauffenberg Bloodstock for €550,000 on Wednesday.
Over the four days, 738 of the 917 lots offered were sold for €29,572,000, up 16 per cent compared to last year's figure. The average of €40,070 was up 15 per cent compared to the 2021 figure and the median rose nine per cent to €24,000.
The sale topping colt is out of the dual winning Street Cry (Machiavellian) mare Dane Street, making him a half-brother to 2019 Irish champion two-year-old filly Scitter Scatter (Scat Daddy), as well as this year's Listed winning juvenile Victory Dance (Dubawi). The colt was one of six lots bought by Stauffenberg Bloodstock who spent a total of €1,113,000, at an average of €185,500.

The only other lot to sell for over €500,000 was another son of Kingman who was bought by Juddmonte Farms for €530,000. Sold by Roundhill Stud, the colt is the third foal out of winner Princess De Lune (Shamardal), dam of stakes placed filly Zanbaq (Oasis Dream) and a sister to multiple Group winner and sire Puissance De Lune (Shamardal). She is also a half-sister to Group 1 winner Zabeel Prince (Lope De Vega).

The session topping lot on Thursday was a filly by Havana Grey (Havana Gold) who sold for €68,000 to Ballyphilip Stud from the draft of Olive O'Connor Bloodstock. The filly is the first foal out of the winning Showcasing (Oasis Dream) mare Colouring.
Tally Ho Stud finished the four-day sale as the leading buyer, spending €1,429,000 on 19 lots. The Castlebridge Consignement was the leading vendor, selling 35 foals for €2,263,000 at an average of €64,657. Swordlestown Little meanwhile was the leading vendor by average (3 or more lots sold) having sold three foals for €699,999 at an average of €233,333.

That allows us to credibly promote the sale as featuring the cream of the Irish foal crop which drives every serious buyer of foals to Kildare Paddocks. Indeed, we have welcomed a huge group of purchasers headed, of course, by the mighty Irish pinhookers who have been taken on by bidders from the UK and across Europe. They were joined by several significant end-users, not least from Japan, who bought to race all of which led to a trade of strength, depth and vibrancy from start to finish.
"As was very clear at an excellent renewal of the Orby Sale, quality is what is selling best and that was illustrated by the strongest clearance rate of 85% coming on Wednesday and we look forward to offering many of those top foals at the Orby next year following so many great pinhooking successes here in September. In fact the only real complaint from several overseas buyers at Orby this year was that we ran out of top tier yearlings so that is the target next year.
