Bracteate can hit the ground running with a first up success in Thursday’s Welding.com.au Class 1 Handicap at Wyong.
The John O’Shea-trained gelding resumes after a five start campaign earlier in the season where he broke maiden status at this course and distance first up before holding form well through the remainder of his prep.
Strong showings at metropolitan level have him rating as the one to beat in Thursday’s Welding.com.au Class 1 Handicap (1350m).
As mentioned, Bracteate’s lone career win came at this course and distance during a previous first up outing.
Thursday’s Class 1 Handicap doesn’t possess a great deal of depth and Bracteate is clearly on of the runners who boasts the most upside.
On 12 month weight adjusted ratings, the Medaglia D’Oro gelding sits clear on top and even further on top based on 50 day weight adjusted figures.
The gelding during a seven start career to date has shown his tractability having settled both up near the speed and back in the field posting solid results during both scenarios.
Possessing this trait means jockey James McDonald has options from barrier 3 on Thursday.
Egiptienne was a first up winner at this course before an underwhelming display at Canterbury two back.
He returned to form when a close third at Gosford last start and can build upon the effort here.
The Zizou gelding should be around peak fitness fourth run from a spell and is likely to enjoy all of the favours in transit from barrier 4.
He’s Our Toy Boy fell just short of recording two straight successes last start when a closing second at Scone.
The gelding is another who will likely be around optimum fitness fourth run back from a break and stays under notice.
Lastly, Thurston showed an abundance of promise during his three start maiden campaign during the spring.
Whilst bred to be better over 2000m and even beyond, the gelding did show enough dash over shorter trips during his maiden campaign to warrant consideration for this.
