This International G1 will be run at San Isidoro (Argentina) on Saturday with a full field of 20 runners taking on the 2400m trip.
The standout for this race would have been El Kodigo but he's drawn the outer car park in gate 20. However his jockey Gustavo Calvente knows him well and they have 2400m to play with. Who knows he might even be at a backable price.
There are five raiders in the event – one from Peru, two from Brazil and two from Uruguay. There are no Chilean runners this year which seems odd.
Peru's representative Don Feres ran well in the Latino in 2023 despite suffering some injuries on the trip down and that has prompted his trainer Juan Suarez to bring him back to Argentina. This time he had an excellent trip and has arrived in top form. He has won his last four starts at home so obviously is racing well.
Brazil is sending Cold Heart whose last 5 starts have included three wins and a second will be ridden by Joao Moreira. He's drawn 8 which looks a good position. His compatriot Master of Puppets is well rated but drawn gate 17 with his five last starts earning him three wins and two thirds.
Uruguay's pair Ready Nights and Steinker Jczuk (good luck to the caller with that name) have both fared badly in the draw with gates 14 and 16 respectively. Vagner Leal rides the latter.
Argentina's favourite jockey Juan Noriega rides Crazy Talent who is well rated and seems to have a very good record at home.
Trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro has two possibles – the young colt Acento Final has done all his racing on this track, will have a weight advantage and has drawn well in gate 4 which could make him a good e/w chance. His stablemate Intense For Me has been working through the distances and should be right for this trip. He has a great finish and may need every bit of it coming from gate 18.
Another horse that seems to run well here is Jazz Seiver – he's well rated and has just had the misfortune to run into El Kodigo. He's coming from gate 7.
The race is being simulcast in Hong Kong and will probably be on TV here at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
