Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 20th July 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 20.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Flemington, Eagle Farm, Gold Coast and Wyong.

ROSEHILL: RACE 7 @ 2:45 PM

AGE OF SAIL (2) improving Frankel gelding fitter after two solid runs back. Indicated he was close to his top with the 60kg when powering late from well back to finish a narrow third behind Strathay over 2000m at Randwick on July 6. Best form is over the 2400m and can race closer today from the good draw. Will be hard to stop with Rawiller keeping the ride. AWESOME WONDER (8) tough mare back in grade for this after heading north for a plugging fifth over 2143m in the LR Tattersall's Gold Crown at Eagle Farm on June 29. Will appreciate the sting out of the ground and not to be underestimated. STRATHTAY (1) one of the staying finds of the winter chasing his third-straight victory. Stretches out to this trip for the first time after proving too strong over the 2000m at Randwick on July 6. Stays in contention with the 3kg claim. LOCO (5) looked the winner inside 200m before being collared late when second behind Strathtay at Randwick over 2000m at latest. Stays in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Age Of Sail to win.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 1 @ 12:05 PM

POLITELY DUN (2) comes through the premier lead up which was the Taj Rossi Final, working home well for fifth when beaten 4.5 lengths by Jenni's Meadow. He looks the one most suited getting to 1800m and gets Damian Lane aboard. STAY SILENT (1) finished a length in front of Politely Dun in the Taj Rossi, sticking on well for third. He does things the right way but perhaps isn't as suited by the rise to 1800m. Will give a bold sight, nonetheless. SUNTORA (7) was okay in the Taj Rossi without the best of luck. She can improve. WINSTON (4) was just fair there but could improve and is bred to get this trip. RED ACES (3) ran okay on debut over 1300m at Seymour and can improve.
SELECTIONS: Politely Dun to win.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 1:08 PM

CINQUE TORRI (6) has hit a purple patch of form of late with a dominant seven length romp at the Gold Coast two back before getting the job done over this trip at Doomben last time out. Drawn to get across easily from gate two and is racing with a lot of confidence. No reason why he cannot salute again. WITHOUT REVENGE (4) returned to form with a strong win here at the latest effort and the extra furlong looks to suit. Rates a serious threat. ESSONNE (2) has been plying her trade at Listed level and should find this assignment easier. Has to be included. STEELY (1) is one from one around this circuit and draws the inside marble. Can improve enough to play a role in the outcome. HE'S HEAVEN (8) is a bit of a hit-or-miss type but may fill the frame with any luck in running.
SELECTIONS: Cinque Torri to salute again.

GOLD COAST POLY: RACE 3 @ 1:24 PM

ALL ABOUT ARTIE (5) sat just behind the lead when second over this course and distance two starts ago then tried to lead all the way at Eagle Farm last start over 1600m. He was only run down late there to finish a close third and he looks well-placed here to break through. Should give a great sight. MISSAYTER (10) is backing up after only going down by 0.5L over this course and distance last week when second to Bauhaus. Drawn nicely and can be in the finish again. SMOKIN MATCH (8) has placed in his past two here and drops back in distance this time. Drawn wide but going well enough to make his presence felt in this. BRAMBLE BAY (1) has a good draw and could be a value runner to consider for multiples.
SELECTIONS: All About Artie to win.

WYONG: RACE 7 @ 4:25 PM

BEND THE KNEE (2) has had three runs back from a break now and senior rider retained. Proven weight carrier who should be getting home hard. Genuine hope despite a tricky gate. OBVIOUS STEP (1) backs up quickly after rocketing home in latest run. Has good numbers at both track and trip and is a genuine type of mare. Go close. SPATS PAV BOWIE (6) has been close up in two solid form references since resuming and does race well over this trip. Ideally drawn to give this a real shake third up. DECEIVE (4) is a slight query at this trip but all three runs back from a break have been sound. Can aim up for in-form stable.
SELECTIONS: Bend The Knee each-way.
